There are two sheoak species found in the Park's canopy trees: the swamp sheoak (Casuarina obesa) and Fraser's sheoak (Allocasuarina fraseriana).

Sheoaks like to claim their 'patch', dropping a thick carpet of needles around their trunks that discourages the growth of any competitors nearby!

Whiteman Park acknowledges the Wadjuk Noongar people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, learn and play and acknowledge the significance of Korndiny Karla Boodja (Bennett Brook) at the heart of the Park.
