'Gooloorto' is the Noongar name for the flooded gum which features along the eastern side of this trail.

ABOUT THIS TRAIL

The trail takes you along the western side of the Bennett Brook which is the outflow of Mussel Pool and Horse Swamp. The northern section of the brook dries up to isolated pools by early December, then starts to flow again with the onset of rain in May or June.

From winter to spring, when the water is flowing, a chorus of frogs can be heard but the trail can become inundated. In summertime it is ideal for wandering along the dry water course in the dappled shade of the flooded gums (Eucalyptus rudis) which give this trail its name.

No matter what time of year you explore this trail, stop and take a moment to inhale the scent of the gum trees overhead.
